Winmerge with its xDocDiff plugin lets you compare Excel and Word files. My favorite solution for now is WinMerge (yes, it can compare files), accompanied with the xdocdiff plugin that enhances WinMerge with the understanding of the “inner works” of several popular document types. Other great apps like WinDiff are Beyond Compare, Compare, WinMerge 2011 and WinMerge JP. The best alternative is WinMerge, which is both free and Open Source. WinMerge is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
We can compare two files with the Open button which is in tool bar like below. One of the most used function of the winmerge is comparing two files.
The winmerge tool can be downloaded from following link.Īfter download is completed the installation can be done with Next-Next style. But there is a 3 party application which can be used easily and freely called Winmerge. Windows operating system do not provide any builtin tool for these operations. Linux operating system have different tools to find diff and create patches.
